TEVIS
Planning, building and maintaining a railway’s technical facilities in more than one thousand equipment rooms, several thousand lineside cabins, cubicles and switchgear buildings are demanding tasks in terms of timely documentation.
TEVIS, the Technical Localisation and Information System used by ÖBB Telecommunication Service GmbH, is a superior documentation and informa- tion system to support the conceptual planning, design, construction, documentation and maintenance of the telecommunication systems used by railways.
Specifications
Key functions involved in overall planning, procurement, site documentation and maintenance will be supported by a sophisticated database technology.
Existing systems are interconnected via intelligent interfaces to minimise process costs. Current site data are recorded by modern, satellite-aided high-precision measurement techniques, edited semi-automatically by CAD software with a number of auxiliary functions, and entered in the central database via the above interfaces. Time-honoured forms of documentation are produced automatically by TEVIS and held centrally for round-the-clock use.
Information is edited for GIS representation and made available to Telecommunication Services staff in the form of theme cards to assist them in their daily work.
Central documentation records, including location details, can be queried for trouble shooting. The traditional “railway address”, including line section and kilometre, as well as longitude / latitude information from GIS environments, navigation devices or specialised installation assistance systems, will produce the desired result.
Modern web-service access is used to update central data locally. This is made possible by transaction control, but also by IQSOFT’s Data Access Service Framework technology, which ensures decentralised data capture without direct database access followed by data alignment from the local workstation with the central database.
Central geodetic transformation functions ensure safe and correct processing of local geodetic data within both global coordinate reference systems (WGS84 or ITRF) and conventional national coordinate reference systems.
New technologies, such as GSM-R, are taken into account to ensure the data stock’s usability for decades to come.
