iKarte is a ETL solution to intelligently import diverse basis data into centralized geographic information systems.

The application is implemented at the Austrian Federal Railways, where track data plus related attribute information is loaded into the centralized information system and then visualised. That allows a quick and efficient graphic description of the whole track network.

Comfortable Upload

Most of the data is available in the form of Exceltables. The Excel-Upload into the geo-graphic information system is an important comfort function of iKarte. The data can be configured for the upload with a special plug-in (PLOX).

PLOX offers many simplifications:

  • easy installation directly into excel, without additional system installation
  • assisted definition of data and headline area
  • assisted processing of the table structure for SQL databases
  • definition of upload parameters (client, organisation, layer name, target schema and table name)
  • definition of geocoding specifications
  • selection and upload execution

Geocoding of Basis Data

The Upload into the database is operated by web services. In the database, the data is processed by a centralized geocoding module. Thereby it can be published in the GIS-database and the Web-GIS-Server of ÖBB. IQSOFT has developed the Excel plug-in PLOX as well as the web services for the upload and the geocoding module.
